Talia napping at the River House. She broke her leg during our family’s Mid-Winter Break from school across President’s Day Week. A young boy lost control of his sled on Lake Wenatchee’s Sled Hill. He careened across the slope and crashed into Talia. Her leg was broken in several places. They were clean breaks. The injury was vastly complicated, however, by Talia having an uncommon bleeding disorder. So we rushed her to the ER in the small hospital downriver in Leavenworth. Took a while to drive there on curvy, steep roads in winter conditions. Talia’s a tough kid, tho. Didn’t complain much at all. The boy and his family seemed oblivious and in denial over the incident. We didn’t have time for that kind of … behavior.
