Is it a Full Moon or what?

Street Mayhem in Seattle/Madness in the City

Gaza flags waving
Motorcycles racing
Prostitutes waving
Cruiser cars with explosive mufflers cruising…
It’s 80° outside on Aurora Avenue!

It’s Saturday in the city! In the Emerald City of Seattle! Seattle, the City of Cranes! The old Jet City! Once the City of Dirt! And in Shoreline, too, one of Seattle’s satellite cities, this one on its northeastern border. Used to be wilderness here stewarded by Indigenous Native American tribes. We pulled out of our garage in our hot new red car, a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness painted “Pearl Lithium Red with Gold accents and Black cladding.” Pearl lithium red. Who thinks up such names for these colors? My wife is driving as I’m still recovering from health challenges. When I first met my wife in person, after she picked me up from the airport in Richmond, Virginia, she zoomed down the freeways like a gleeful madwoman. “I drive like I’m in Jamaica, mon!” She shouted and laughed. Indeed, she is originally from the island nation of Jamaica. Continue reading

After the Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump

The Maelstrom opens wide its Maw. Be alert and don’t fall in.

Americans have leapt closer towards the brink of all-out civil war with the attempted assassination of former president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Gonna break the wall here and share, yes, I am afraid. You may feel however and whatever you feel along the political and religious spectrum. And I am afraid. You may even loathe your own country for whatever reasons you choose to do so, but you do not want to experience civil war and revolution especially in this postmodern 21st Century empire. Such violence would consume you with the stomach churning malevolence unique to civil wars and revolutions, far worse than usually found in even brutal interstate wars. Have you no idea? Have you no sense of history? No knowledge of what terrible and heinous acts fellow Americans inflicted upon each other in our past? Most citizens, to be sure, did not stoop to such ugliness. More than enough did so, however, to make history. If only people studied the dark side of history as well as the glorious, positive, upbeat side.

The mainstream media as well as alternative, fringe, and social media have all gone deep into telling and retelling the events of Saturday evening on the 13th of July 2024. The drama has infected even the UFO movement. So am not going to report any further on what has already been reported over and over with new pieces still falling in place as investigations continue. Instead I seek to warn my fellow Americans of the dangers we all face, dangers as real as earthquakes, tornadoes, and poisonous spiders. Continue reading

Leftist Gun Militant on the Day after Trump got Shot

A gun on a T-shirt at work spells trouble ahead for all sides

A White man over 6 feet tall with a wiry, muscular build walked around in the outdoor adventure store where I work in Downtown Seattle today. He was dressed in solid black clothing. Black shorts cut off below the knees. Shiny steel pocket chain. Solid black, tank top muscle shirt. Black, military style baseball cap. Across his chest on the shirt was a stylized white image of an AR-15-style semi-automatic assault rifle. You can guess where this is going, yes? Underneath the AR-15, however, was stamped in white letters the following words, “This machine kills racists.” This was on the day after the attempt on the life of former President Donald John Trump. Guns in America: Paralysis, Polarization, & Do-Nothingism

Yes, address mental health care, and, yes, more importantly,
Amend the Second Amendment

The numbers make mass shootings in America look like war. Certainly feels like a war. Per the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 214 mass shootings in the United States of America with over 17,300 deaths by guns from New Year’s Day to the end of May 2022. There were 42 recognized mass shootings in the first 23 days of the month of May, then several more, then another 14 over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. This warfare seems bookended by the predatory, hate-filled slaughter of Black people grocery shopping in Buffalo, New York, and the equally hateful, psychopathic hunting down of little kids and their teachers to shoot and kill in Uvalde, Texas.

Those on the Left bellow, “Do something!” Those on the Right shout, “Do nothing!” The outrage, deflections, and self-righteous demonization boils over and continues to divide us further from doing the “something” the majority of Americans demand. Most of those in the moderate middle feel “sick and tired” of grocery stores, houses of worship, restaurants, city streets, schools, more schools, and yet still more schools getting shot up and say, “Enough is enough!”

Even the “commonsense” gun control reforms people want enacted at a federal level including strict background checks for all purchases, tighter regulation of and even banning of certain military-style firearms and types of magazines will only go so far.

We often experience the rigidity of political extremists on both sides. We see, read, and hear their demonization of each other and everyone else with the quest for opposing utopias between the libertarian right and the socialist left drowning out the voices of our vast pragmatic middle. “Mental health issues” is a term bandied about without serious action steps taken to address them.

What to do? The solution is to go to the source of the controversy, the wording of our Second Constitutional Amendment, and reform it. This shall override the ineffective crazy quilt patchwork of conflicting state and local regulations or lack thereof. It’s simple. We do what’s hard. We do what’s hard first! Continue reading
