Our human reality as complex social mammals will always banish ideological rigidity to the shadows and destroy all efforts to build any and all Utopias.

Perceptions Matter. What People think is true but isn’t vs. What’s so & thus is true vs. What’s possible, especially for us to create once we learn to work together.

Building Democratic Socialism or Neo-Communism: In this case a much more appropriate, dialectical, and definitive term would be Democratic Socialism instead of Neo-Communism. Both represent moves to reinvigorate Marxism and even Marxism-Leninism and Trotskyism while severing all association with Stalinism, Maoism, Social Democracy, National Socialism (Nazism), bureaucratic dictatorship, and State Capitalism. State Capitalism demonstrates itself as state tyranny via centralized bureaucratic control of the state and the party and in turn over markets, the military/security-industrial/financial-education/prison-intelligence/surveillance complex, and businesses. Party and bureaucratic dictatorship masquerades as true Marxist Communism when it is anything but Marxist, Leninist, Socialist, or Communist. It is similar to the big banks, transnational corporations, and the central banks and tax regimes dominate markets, businesses, politics, and governments while hypocritically championing free markets and democratic republics. Instead we have a faux democracy, an inverted capitalist dictatorship all dressed up pretty in patriotism, traditions, nationalism, and so-called free elections.

Building a Constitutional, Democratic Socialist World Republic or Global Cooperative: Our species must find ways to work and play together across our differences to resolve complex and overlapping global crises, wicked problems, and severe challenges. We must find ways to collaborate and cooperate. The most effective way to come together is for We the People of Planet Earth integrate our communities into a novel and evolving global cooperative or planetary federation. I envision this to be a Constitutional, Democratic Socialist World Republic with a World Parliament not of nation-states and stateless-nations but of representatives direct from the people of different regions and cities. We must move even beyond ethnic and religious differences to embrace the unity of our oneness as a living species while celebrating, within limits such as peace and responsibility, our various local cultures and ethnic traditions.

The Problem: We humans are often fickle. We change our minds. We open and close our hearts. Sometimes we stand tall in the face of battle. Other times we turn and run away. Most of us, even the minimalists among us, would like more wealth and prosperity than we actually have. If the rich are never satisfied, how does one expect the poor and the middle classes to be happy as well? We quarrel amongst ourselves. We quit. We destroy. We start over and begin anew. We hope. We build and create. We blow things up again. We love. We forgive. We hate. We kill. We are merciful. We are genocidal. We love labels, identify with religious and political isms, sports teams, and love our little pieces of Planet Earth we call home but often without realizing the whole planet is our home.

There is no way we humans can be coaxed, herded, or enrolled in being in the same ideological box. We hate being in boxes yet are quick to put others into boxes. We want to do whatever we want while telling others how to be even when they don’t want to do what we demand. We are stupid, beautiful creatures and do dumb, ugly things despite being the most intelligent and emotionally sensitive species within all of Earth – that we are aware of.

To hell with so-called True Communism. It will never work. And why would we even all want it to work anyway? We want to be all equal together yet have more than others. Democracy is great until our side loses, yet it is better than dictatorship. Give us, no, let us create opportunities instead. The more one declares everything is war and struggle, then more war and struggle is all you will generate.

There are reasons I left all religions and walked away from political “third” parties with disgust. Ideological rigidity, utopian magickal thinking, self-righteousness born in the reflections and mirrors of preachy books and the enraged shouting on the streets, and the demonization of everyone else left me disillusioned and disgusted. No wonder these groups stay on the fringes, or if they do make it into power become corrupt and obsessed with clinging to power at nearly any cost.

We want to expand democracy into the world of business and economics, but need to see it’s the same world as Earth. First we must reclaim democracy in our governments at all levels. We must learn to work together despite our differences. And not all differences are equal. Some must be fought. That means fighting each other again. What will you do next?
