UFOs over Washington, D.C., during the swarm or “flap” of 12 July – 29 July, 1952. Both the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. were so alarmed by these waves of unidentifiable craft they set up an emergency communications system to prevent accidental nuclear strikes in case the UFOs were misidentified as each other’s aircraft and ICBMs.
