Morgan & I left Seattle for a Winter road trip over into the Cascades and out into the Coulee Scablands of the Washington Desert. On the way we stopped by Lake Wenatchee & the River House. By then we had stopped staying overnight in our beloved getaway home. By then the water’s been turned off and the electricity, too. Our home became just another Great Recession-era house, an empty shell bereft of the love, conflict, and community that had once so enlivened and enriched it. Above is Emerald Isle in Lake Wenatchee State Park, Sunday afternoon on the 17th of January 2009.
