My Education, Training, and Development

Hello, there! I love to learn. What about you? Yes, there are a number of contentions regarding our educational system I take issue with or am concerned about, and I’m sure you have your opinions, too. I still love to learn. In addition to traditional linear education, I also value nonlinear, experiential, and other alternative approaches in personal and professional growth, training, and development.

Below are three lists. First is a list of my primary educational achievements followed by a second list of numerous continuing education workshops, seminars, and other trainings. These additions supplement and augment my traditional education. They also demonstrate my intention to continue learning both to improve myself and to better serve others. Finally, is a list of awards and related achievements. Consider these lists as similar to an addendum to a resume or perhaps even a modified curriculum vitae.

Certification as a Licensed Massage Practitioner, (Massage Therapy & Bodywork), 1993.
At the time SMS was one of America’s premier massage schools. As an LMP, I went on to expand my practice and developed into a master bodyworker prior to tackling new challenges 14 years later.

Master of Fine Arts Degree, Creative Writing in English, 1986.
Here I honed my natural gifts, worked hard, and mastered the art of the craft. I developed the reputation of being the most eclectic writer, the most prolific, and one of the best creative writers among my peers.

Bachelor of Arts Degree, History, 1981.
H-SC is one of three all-male traditional but non-religious or military colleges left in the U.S.A. As a young man, I was blessed with a sterling liberal arts education and developed critical thinking skills. I learned how to think for myself and hold my ground in a rigorous academic environment backed by an Honor Code. My unofficial approach to my BA was World History and the relationships between numerous events, places, and people around our planet. I also took a significant number of courses in the sciences and in English.
